This League was started in 1999 by Michael Crowe and Maurice Buckley and they got Sponsorship from the ESB for four years. First prize was a trip to Eurodisney. !
After that, they ran the League privately until 2009, when ChessZ took it over.
The Primary Schools CheckMate Finals is running on Tues, 30-May-23 in the Abbey Court Hotel in Nenagh.

Doors open at 1pm, and play starts close to 1.30pm. Prize-giving c5.30pm
It will be a Swiss tournament, with any team members barred from playing each other by the software. A team score is the sum of the individual players scores. 6 rounds are usually played and nobody gets knocked out.
Individuals can also play.
The fee for a team of 4 is €55, and €20 for an individual. In the past, CheckMate has attracted strong teams and players.
