ChessZ and CheckMate leagues are continuing this year. For this season we're just running one Irish Finals for each, with no local leagues ..... we're still easing back !


All leagues are mixed, Boys & Girls, except the ChessZ GIRLS-ONLY




CHECKMATE LEAGUE:



This League was started in 1999 by Michael Crowe and Maurice Buckley and they got Sponsorship from the ESB for four years. First prize was a trip to Eurodisney. !


After that, they ran the League privately until 2009, when ChessZ took it over.


The Annual Primary Schools CheckMate Finals is running on

Friday, 23-May-2025 in the Abbey Court Hotel in Nenagh.

Doors open at 12pm, and play starts close to 12.30pm. Prize-giving c4.30pm


It will be a Swiss tournament, with any team members barred from playing each other by the software. A team score is the sum of the individual players scores. 6 rounds are usually played and nobody gets knocked out.


Individuals can also play.


The fee for a team of 4 players is €55, and €20 for an individual. In the past, CheckMate has attracted strong teams and players.
