Munster Junior Chess Committee (MJCC)
Why are there two MJCC's
Alan Salsac, current MCU chairman, has tried to put us under the
control of the MCU, with threats, and has backed a MJCC with no
democratic mandate.
We have been running independently since 2004 and there was
always a healthy distance between the MJCC and MCU.
Here's why the MCU is considered bad for Munster Junior Chess ...
1. This year (2015-2016), Munster was due to hold the Irish Junior
Chess Championships. The MCU had representation on the ICU
where the decision was made, and failed to even raise the topic.
Munster Children lost out again.
2. Because children play in Division-2, time controls had been set at
1.30 instead of the usual 2.00, in order to give them shorter games.
At the MCU AGM 2015, it was decided to change the playing times
back up to 2 hours per clock - a child unfriendly move.
3. In 2012, the Adare Division-2 team (mainly children with ratings
less than 700) were forced to replace the Division-1, Adare-B team
which had collapsed for human reasons. The childrens team quit.
The is the MCU in action.
4. Leagues Controller, Frank Noonan runs a private tournament
called the Shannon Masters. The last one held had some curious
selection decisions, like why was a top class female player not offered
a place, whereas a lower rated player was? Frank has been asked for
an explanation, but chooses not to reply.
5. Leagues Controller, Frank Noonan omitted a St Michaels' team in
the Division-2 draw in 2013, despite it being made known well in
advance that a team was ready to play. The team had some Junior
players on it. No explanation has ever been given.
Clearly, Munster Junior chess can do without the MCU.
The Alan Salsac backed MJCC
Chairman - John Cassidy
Secretary - Noel Keating
In Sep and Oct, 2014 it was discovered that
both had allowed cheques to expire. They
were not asked to replace them.
In Nov 2014 they attempted to take control of
the MJCC, and have been causing chaos
and confusion ever since.
They do not have enough members for a
quorum to even hold a meeting.
No Constitution, No website.
Google 'Alan Salsac, 'Jersey Financial'
'Panama Papers' to find out more.
December 2016 - Alan Salsac is leaving
Ireland.
'Jersey Financial' would like to know where
he is.
In December 2017, Noel Keating admitted
to the Data Commissioner that he never
told John Alfred about a secret meeting he
called to replace him. His then colleagues,
John Cassidy and Olive Weeks had been
led to believe that he had.
With this admission in writing, Keating's
'Committee' is automatically null and void,
and everything run in its name since
Nov-2014 is both invalid and illegal.
The democratically elected
